Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone

Ippocalyptica One of the finest extreme metal albums of the 2000s, from one of the most consistently talented and hard-working group of musicians in the UK. Akercocke are to this day arguably unmatched as a progressive black/death metal entity, and no other Satanic-themed metal band comes close to being this sophisticated, refined, and thought-provoking. I have owned the physical version of this pantheon-level album for years, but needed to spread the good word about this digital version.

Mark Lindhout There are few bands out there as satanic as Akercocke. Added bonus of having a gruesome, threatening sound, and combine that with them wearing suits to most of their live performances, and you have a winner.

“The Chateau Verdelet goes quite well with a selection of cheeses”

El_Cuervo The beautiful, twisted dream-state that the band must have been in when producing this record must have been something else. A mind-fucking blend of death metal and schizoid, psychedelic tendencies which is utterly compelling throughout. Favorite track: Verdelet.

Paul Schwarz It's a masterpiece. Among the very best ever to bear Earache's name... Favorite track: Shelter from the Sand.

about

Pursuing their own distinct path has led Akercocke to their watershed moment with 'Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone'. Embracing both classic death metal harshness and expansive rock flourishes, the band have built upon the style that defined them on previous releases. No other extreme act has connected their look and sound so uniquely, and now no other extreme act has so successfully merged an overtly Satanic approach with such a daring, forward-thinking sound.
